The growth and development of retail industry in Nigeria got a boost today with the commencement of the Retail Academy. The Academy the first of such retail growth and development institution in in West Africa flagged off its programs with the Retail Training & Internship Program (RTIP), a program for interested individuals who desire to acquire retail business knowledge, work and advance their career in the Retail Industry.
The training program started today Tuesday 3rd October 2017 at the Bervidson Training Centre located at 3B Hakeem Dickson Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki Lagos state. This is the maiden edition of the Retail Academy training programs, and official launch of Retail Academy training programs in Nigeria.
According to Mr. Joseph Ebata, President Bervidson Retail Group promoters of the Retail Academy, “the goal of the Retail Academy is to prepare and inspire retail-minded individuals for successful career and entrepreneurship in retail. Our maiden program The Retail Training & Internship Program – RTIP is specially designed to develop individuals who have interest in working in retail business environment, providing them with the requisite skills set to excel working in retail.”
The One-month training exercise segmented into different sections will include classwork, internship program at various retail organizations within Nigeria, as well as group research work.
The Retail Academy training exercise is set to equip and develop participants with the up to date global best practices success principles. Participants who successfully complete the program will earn the Retail Academy’s basic certification in Retail – RTIP and form a pool of skilled talents from which the industry can source their staff complements. Speaking further, Mr Ebata assured that “Individuals who pass through the Academy will leave informed and armed with principles, insights and creative solutions to satisfy the needs of today’s dynamic shoppers while leaving them with positive experiences. Retail organisations will greatly benefit from hiring any of the participants as doing so will immediately reduce their cost on-boarding new hires and increase the speed to productivity of new hires.”
Some of the participants at the training exercise testified that the experience was transforming and informative. “The exercise has been impactful and I urge established retailers and prospective retailers to seize this opportunity provided by the Retail Academy to train their staff and equip them with the skills needed to engage with today’s very demanding customers, says Destiny Onyeka, a participant at the training exercise. Another Participant affirmed that “It was a refreshing experience and today is just the first day. I look forward to get more out of the program as we make progress” Obinna Chinedu added.
Retail Academy is a member of Bervidson Retail Group, Convener of The Retail leader conference – an annual conference for Retail leaders within and outside Nigeria.
The training exercise will continue throughout the month of October 2017.
